Clearly, our lives are shaped by various experiences we have encountered. Good and bad memories play a significant role in altering the outlook we have towards our lives as well as future. It is pertinent to affirm that if our experiences were different our perceptions about life would be different. Personally, I have had various experiences that have structured my life. A family is the first school in which a child receives the basic values of life. The morals and values learnt in the family becoming our guiding force. They make our character. They lay the foundation of our thinking. I feel fortunate to be born in a family where values are inculcated in early childhood.
I belong to a middle class family. There are five members in my family. There are out parents, my brother, my sister and I, I am the youngest among the three of us. My father in the person of Leonardo A. Gapasin, a mechanical engineer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for almost 40 years now. He is a great disciplinarian and provider. He is sincere and hardworking. On several occasions, he told us that hard work and determination are the primary elements of success. He was happy when I did something constructive. For this reason, I learned to put an extra effort in whatever I do. I believe that one should not give up under all circumstances. Besides, my father would also teach us to manage our lives. He gave us relevant life examples of making the right choices.
On the other hand, my mother, Lorna C. Gapasin is a simple housewife. She is soft-natured and caring. She takes great care of us. She helps the poor and the needy for she always give food to the street children and beggar in the pavements. She is religious and God-fearing. My mother taught me the significance of being kind and courteous to other people. Up to date, I find myself messages of kindness and encouraging other people to be kind because of the experience.
My brother, Gilbert C. Gapasin is a officeworker and a family man now. He is cool and considerate man. He has a wife and a child and they’re living their own lives now therefore, they’re not living in the same roof with us.
My sister, May C. Gapasin, is owns a business in Naga City therefore like my older brother she’s not living in the same roof with us. She’s funny and responsible. Moreover, she knows how to handle her own problems an responsibilities independently.
My family has been known for discipline ad values. We give great importance to values and morals in life. Since our early childhood we are taught to respect elders and love the children. Our family is like a heaven. There is peace, prosperity, love and care. The younger’s have regard and respect for the elders while the elders shower them with their love and affection. The instructions of the elders are followed with great respect. If a member has some problem the whole family is beside him. I am proud of my family.
